Recht wie Regen

Permanent Clear Light's third album is brighter, poppier, yet by no means tamer, making a clear step towards Canterbury Prog and psychedelic pop in the late summer light. While Cosmic Comics played more with 60s influences, Right As Rain delves deep into shimmering, fluffy melodic arcs that contain more than meets the eye at first glance.
Melancholy sarcasm behind loveliness: Matti Laitinen sings more maturely than ever before, and Markku Helin and Arto Kakko build songs that sound like gentle spring rain on first listen and something dark and complex on the third. Kudvash opens brightly, Jezabel and Lonely Gardener sink into melancholic Rhodes moods, Conspicuous By Its Absence shows the more avant-garde side of the album. Towards the end, the tone deepens. Iron Gate sounds like today's emerging Europe, heavier and more honest than the rest.
