Bila Tserkva is a city southwest of Kyiv, and it was there, in an abandoned basement and an improvised home studio, that Reflector recorded their debut album between 2016 and 2020. The fact that the album was completed and released in 2023, despite all odds and considering the situation in Ukraine, even despite far worse circumstances, is remarkable in itself.
Six numbered tracks plus a live rehearsal bonus track make for 44 minutes of cosmic space rock, heavily influenced by Hawkwind and Pink Floyd. Motorik grooves, endlessly unfolding delay guitars, synthesizer carpets, and an atmosphere that transcends the origin of the recordings. The album title is real! There is indeed a colonnade in Bila Tserkva, whose echo the band members used for the reverb on the record. The cover was created after the Magritte painting of the same name.
LP on 180 gram randomly colored recycled vinyl made in Germany and limited to 500 copies, including download code!
