Krautrock · Post Punk · Electronic
Uran are a band from Gothenburg, Sweden. One of the few acts in the Sulatron catalog that consciously avoids any cosmic coziness (you know what I mean). Where most of the label's psychedelic and space rock bands lean toward trance, improvisation and meditative drift, Uran head in the opposite direction. Hard, direct, mechanical and with a dark, almost cartoonish sense of menace.
Their sound is best described as krautrock put through a punk-industrial blender. The motorik pulse of Kraftwerk and Neu! collides with the anarchic energy of the Sex Pistols and the electronic aggressiveness of Atari Teenage Riot. Tightly structured songs, merciless bass riffs, driving electronics and very few moments of calm before the next sonic assault begins. The band sings in a mix of swedish and invented languages, which adds another dimension to the already alienating, almost dystopian atmosphere.
Music for the apocalypse, played by people who think the apocalypse is actually quite fun.
