The Movements

🇸🇪

2009 – 2009

Psychedelic Rock · Space Rock · Garage Rock

The Movements are a band from Gothenburg, Sweden, known for relentless touring throughout Europe, an ever-evolving sound and a refusal to write the same song twice. Starting in the garage rock tradition, they gradually opened their music up to psychedelia, folk, space rock and krautrock. Always driven by a raw live energy that has earned them a loyal fan base on both sides of the Atlantic.

The connection to Sulatron Records came about naturally. While on tour in Germany, the band befriended label founder Sula Bassana, who invited them to record a space rock album for the label. The result, For Sardines Space Is No Problem (2009), is a full concept album dedicated to Christer Fuglesang, the first and only Scandinavian astronaut to fly into space aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in December 2006. The album blends space prog, krautrock and folk elements into a cohesive homage, recorded entirely at the band’s own Parkeringshuset Studio in Gothenburg. Vocalist David Henriksson later also contributed guest vocals to Sula Bassana’s Dark Days.

Music for long drives, open skies and the question of what else is waiting out there.
