Psychedelic Rock · Improvisation · Tribal Drone
Talea Jacta is a duo from Porto, Portugal, consisting of Pedro Pestana (guitar, drone machine, effects) and João Pais Filipe (drums, percussion, gongs). As the guitarist for 10000 Russos, Pedro Pestana is already one of the best-known names in the Portuguese psych scene. João Pais Filipe is far more than a drummer. He is also a designer and smith of handcrafted gongs, cymbals and percussion instruments, which he builds for musicians all over the world.
Their music combines João Pais Filipe's tribal-technoid polyrhythms with Pedro Pestana's otherworldly guitar soundscapes. Circling around itself, repetitive, in long, extended pieces with no beginning and no end. Released on Sulatron Records in 2021 was Sabotar, a recording of the joint concert by Talea Jacta and Electric Moon at the Lisbon cult club Sabotage on September 20, 2019. Five musicians, no soundcheck, no setlist and an evening that remained anchored in the memories of everyone present. Sadly, the club no longer exists. The album however does.
Music for anyone who likes trance-like psych rock, heavy on drums and unpredictable.
