Hard Rock · Heavy Psych · Stoner Rock
Otrovna Kristina, which translates roughly to "Poisoned Kristina" was formed in Zagreb in 2013 and is one of the most unusual acts in the Sulatron catalog. Not space rock, not krautrock, not ambient but classic 1970s hard rock, sung entirely in Croatian. Raw, dirty, direct and with an energy you rarely hear these days.
The trio led by guitarist Niko Potočnjak, who is also active in Seven That Spells, also released on Sulatron Records, dips deep into the history of hard rock. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and the Yugoslavian hard rock legacy of Bijelo Dugme are the central points of reference. Ten songs, each with at least one punchy guitar solo, two-part vocals and riffs that stick in your mind immediately. The debut was released in 2016, initially as a CD, then as LP on 180g red vinyl with a poster hand-signed by the band, limited to 500 copies.
If rock 'n' roll was ever dead, here it sounds actually quite alive.
