Krautrock · Psychedelic Rock · Space Rock
Centre El Muusa was founded in Tallinn, Estonia in 2015 as an avant-garde electronic duo by Misha Panfilov and Volodja Brodsky, originally under the name Centre Électronique Muusa. Misha Panfilov is considered one of the most prolific multi-instrumentalists in Europe. He is known for numerous psychedelic funk singles and electronic albums under the name Misha Panfilov Sound Combo (Funk Night Records, USA) as well as for being the founder of the jazzy krautrock band Estrada Orchestra, with whom he has also released music on Sulatron Records. Volodja Brodsky is a master of the Wurlitzer electric piano and cosmic synthesizers.
When Monika Erdman joined on electric bass and Aleksei Semenihhin on drums in 2018, the duo became a full-fledged rock band. Their sound oscillates between motoric krautrock in the spirit of Can and Neu!, psychedelic space rock and a lap steel guitar component unusual for this scene, which allows space for country twang and jazzy influences.
Both albums to date were released on Sulatron Records. These are the self-titled debut Centre El Muusa (2020) and Purple Stones (2022), which is stylistically even more expansive than the debut. Recorded and produced by Misha Panfilov at Bazaar Studio and Muusa Studio, Tallinn.
Music for anyone who counts Hallogallo by Neu! and Mother Sky by Can among their favorite songs, yet is always on the lookout for something new.
