Stardust Rituals

Six years after The Doomsday Machine, Electric Moon released their fifth studio album, Stardust Rituals, in 2017, taking an unusually long time to mature just four tracks. The oldest track, Stardust (The Picture), was recorded back in 2014 and previously released in instrumental form on two live albums before finally receiving its definitive studio treatment with vocals and additional overdubs.

The eight-minute opener The Loop shows the band surprisingly structured and song-oriented, before Stardust (The Picture) transitions into a pulsating two-note trance with Komet Lulu's ghostly, heavily distorted vocals. With the drawn-out, sitar-driven Astral Hitch Hike and the over twenty-two-minute epic (You Will) Live Forever Now, an almost classic 70s mood unfolds at the end, somewhere between Hawkwind's Mellotron era and dark, Eastern-tinged Krautrock.

Stardust Rituals tells of the journey through the inner cosmos and the realization that nothing and no one is ever truly lost. After all, we are all made of stardust. An album that combines improvisation and songwriting more organically than almost any other in the Electric Moon catalog.
