Shipwrecked

With Shipwrecked, Sula Bassana returns in 2016 to almost entirely electronic sounds, six years after his trance-heavy album Kosmonauts. This time, however, it's less about driving beats and more about the entire arsenal of vintage equipment accumulated over decades: synthesizers, organs, drum machines, sequencers, mellotron, and even a toy mandolin.

Moonbase Alpha Alpha opens the album with a launch sequence and driving motorik beat, underscored by astronaut radio chatter. A journey back to the golden age of the Berlin School and early Kraftwerk sound. Shushie Express continues this Krautrock flow with Eastern influences, before No Time : No Eternity and Planeta Bur slow the tempo and transition into drones and hypnotic soundscapes. The title track Shipwrecked, with its five-note motif, unfolds an almost classic sci-fi atmosphere, before the floating No Way gently fades out the album.

Shipwrecked is a self-contained, almost conceptual journey through cosmic soundscapes. Electronic Krautrock in the best sense, mastered by Eroc.
