Shipwrecked

With Shipwrecked, Sula Bassana returns to almost entirely electronic sounds in 2016, six years after his trance-heavy album Kosmonauts. This time, however, the focus is less on driving beats and more on the entire arsenal of vintage equipment accumulated over decades. Synthesizers, organs, drum machines, sequencers, Mellotron and even a toy mandolin.
With Moonbase Alpha Alpha, the album opens with a launch sequence and a driving motorik beat, underscored by astronaut radio transmissions. A journey back to the great era of the Berlin School and the early Kraftwerk sound. Shushie Express carries this Krautrock flow forward with Eastern inflections before No Time : No Eternity and Planeta Bur slow the pace, transitioning into drones and hypnotic soundscapes. The title track, Shipwrecked, unfolds with its five-note motif, creating an almost classic sci-fi atmosphere before the floating No Way gently brings the album to a close.
Shipwrecked is a self-contained, almost conceptual journey through cosmic soundscapes. Electronic Krautrock in the best sense. Mastered by Eroc.
