Magnetische Anomalie

From the desert city of Tucson, Arizona, comes Cobra Family Picnic, a band that has long shared stages with Moon Duo, White Manna, and Mugstar, even before releasing their debut album, Magnetic Anomaly, in 2017. Sulatron Records is now bringing the recordings, originally released jointly with British labels Cardinal Fuzz and Sky Lantern Records, to Europe as a CD edition.

Across nine tracks and a good forty minutes, a fuzzy, bleached sound cloud emerges, traversing the history of underground psych: the hypnotic keyboard pulse of Suicide, the go-go freakout of Les Rallizes Dénudés, the sultry sound of early Doors, and the circling grooves of Neu!. When real NASA radio transmissions are interspersed between the three Interplanetary Travel interludes and singer Randall Dempsey's reverb-laden voice emerges from the darkness, it feels as if you're being beamed directly into space.

Magnetic Anomaly is dusty, hot, and hypnotic all at once. Desert psych, as it can only originate under the Arizona sun.
