Made In The Machine

With Made In The Machine, Sun Dial mastermind Gary Ramon returns in 2016 after four years of silence with a veritable monster work: fourteen songs, a double album that picks up on the sound of its predecessor Mind Control and consistently develops it further. Deeper into surreal sci-fi and spacerock worlds, with influences from early Krautrock and Dark Psych.

The opener Meltdown already sets the tone with the wail of an air-raid siren, driving beats and pulsating synthesizers, before the album opens up in all directions: the disco on mars groove of Ascension, the hectic Spacedust, the technoid drive of Aurora. With the almost seven-minute Regenerator, one of the highlights is created: a dark pull of sound and color, almost reminiscent of Pink Floyd's Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun. The extended, sitar-driven Autopilot brings out the hypnotic, almost meditative side of the album.

Made In The Machine is an album full of changing moods that, despite its length, never loses its tension and is rightly considered one of the strongest works in the extensive Sun Dial catalog.
