Hugodelia

Hugodelia is more than just another live album by Electric Moon. It is a farewell document. Recorded at promoter Graf Hugo's last concert in Feldkirch, Austria, the album captures one of those rare moments where you can also feel the human sentiment behind Electric Moon's music: a sad night, but one filled with good friends and genuine affection.

Over nearly 87 minutes, five tracks unfold: The twenty-minute opener Hugodelia initially probes its way forward before the band uncompromisingly takes off into the cosmos. Transmitter (20:33) continues with dreamlike, floating moments that build up to Hawkwind- and Motorik-like surges, Cellar Grime (12:37) is a sour, improvised jam of the heavy kind, Cellar Slime (10:24) its peaceful counterpart. The bonus track Ween (23:17), recorded in Vienna in the same year, closes the album with a hypnotic build-up that, after seven minutes, erupts into a stratospheric burst of energy and then slowly ebbs away again at the end.

Guest Erich Coldino played a second guitar through the same amplifier on the last two tracks of the concert. A joint conclusion, as organic as the rest of the evening.
