Space Rock · Psychedelic Rock · Krautrock
The Spacelords were founded in April 2008 in Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg by three musicians who might not seem like a natural fit at first glance. The band includes Marcus, who has been traveling to West Africa regularly since 1991 to study traditional rhythms and has been at home in psychedelic music for over 25 years, Hazi, who has been musically influenced by his travels to India since the 1970s and has been playing guitar for over 30 years and, on this album, Klaus Werz, who began as a drummer in Russia in 1978, soon switched to guitar and took up bass in 2006. It is precisely these diverse backgrounds that give the Spacelords' sound music that carries more ethnic influences than one might expect at first glance.
Their debut vinyl Synapse (2014) was released as the band's first official vinyl release on Sulatron Records and was enthusiastically received by the scene as old-school instrumental space rock that affords itself subtlety and restraint where other bands simply riff away. Four tracks in 40 minutes with the irresistible Pyroclastic Monster as the highlight. Marcus Schnitzler later also drummed on Electric Moon's Stardust Rituals (2017). A connection that is audible in the sound of both bands.
Music for everyone who prefers space rock without vocals but with feeling.
