Psychedelic Folk · Neo-Psych · Krautrock
Sherpa hail from the Abruzzo region in central Italy, a mountainous area where nature still speaks its own language. The quintet, centered around guitarist and lyricist Matteo Dossena, drew inspiration for their music from the mountains and their silence just as much as from Eastern cultures, ancient vocal traditions and the psychedelic legacy of Popol Vuh and Robert Wyatt.
Sherpa play psychedelic folk-rock that blends Krautrock influences, Eastern percussion, post rock textures, indie elements and multi-part vocal harmonies into a warm, shimmering overall sound. Their debut Tanzlinde (2016) was enthusiastically received by the international press as one of the most cohesive and surprising debuts of the year. The follow-up album Tigris & Euphrates (2018) deepened this approach to a darker, more expansive and thematically more ambitious concept.
Music for quiet nights, vast mountain landscapes and anyone who prefers psych rock gentle rather than loud.
