Papir are an instrumental trio from Copenhagen, Denmark. Christoffer Brøchmann Christensen (drums), Nicklas Sørensen (guitar, keyboards) and Christian Becher Clausen (bass, keyboards). Since forming in 2008 they played together under various names and in different constellations before finding their own path into a semi-improvised, instrumental psych rock world.
The heart of the band is Christoffer Brøchmann’s complex, powerful drumming which propels the organic sound structures with the hypnotic groove of Can or electric-era Miles Davis. Nicklas Sørensen’s guitar playing blends fuzz-drenched 60s psychedelia with the melodic signature of Michael Rother and Manuel Göttsching. Christian Becher Clausen’s bass functions at times as a solid foundation, at others as a tool for cosmic dronescapes.
In 2012 Papir met Electric Moon in the studio to create The Papermoon Sessions, a legendary collaboration album. Two years later, at Roadburn Festival 2014, the sextet took the stage together again, captured on The Papermoon Sessions - Live At Roadburn 2014.
