a/lpaca were founded in 2017 in Northern Italy by Christian Bindelli (guitar, vocals) and Andrea Verrastro (bass, vocals), who had previously played together in the alt-indie band electioneering. With keyboardist Andrea Fantuzzi and drummer Andrea Sordi, also a former electioneering co-founder, the band quickly found their own voice with less indie and more beat, more psychedelic, more punch, more motorik.

Influenced by the local scene in Mantua surrounding bands like Bee Bee Sea and Plastic Light Factory, as well as international acts like Can, Osees, Föllakzoid and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, the quartet developed a sound that combines krautrock motorik with post-punk energy, psychedelic guitars and dense synthesizer textures. a/lpaca's debut Make It Better (2021), a co-release by Sulatron Records, We Were Never Being Boring (USA) and Sour Grapes Records (UK), was immediately celebrated by the european music press as one of the most interesting psych rock debuts of the year and earned the band performances at festivals such as ESNS in Groningen.

The second album Laughter was released in 2025, again on Sulatron Records, and showcases a band that has consistently evolved its sound. More focused, more multi-layered, more dynamic.

Music for those who like psych rock hypnotic, with real groove and a little unpredictable.
