Wonderful Beyond

For a year, Leonardo, also known as Astral Son, worked on Wonderful Beyond, letting the album breathe, grow, and mature, and this is palpable in every minute of the album. It is his fourth album, the first step after his trilogy Gurumaya, Silver Moon, and Mind's Eye, and at the same time the album on which his voice plays a more central role than ever before.
Eleven pieces flow seamlessly into each other, creating a dreamlike state that the listener willingly falls into. She opens delicately and invitingly, before Matrix Of Creation evokes early Gong and Steve Hillage. Time And Space touches upon the quiet beauty of Pink Floyd's More-era with a simple acoustic guitar theme, Your Mind is entertaining and synth-infused, The Universe overlays a strangely alienated voice over a new, urgent bass groove. With Moving Slowly, Cheap Magic Spells, and the concluding Morning Dew, the album takes on increasingly calmer, almost contemplative features.
Wonderful Beyond is a colorful, peaceful homage to the psychedelic music of the late sixties and early seventies and the most convincing proof that Astral Son has developed a very unique style.
