Weltschmerz, Baby!

Weltschmerz, Baby! is the latest album from Seid from Trondheim and it's the first sung entirely in Norwegian: a detail that adds an extra, almost mantra-like dimension to the already dreamy, psychedelic sound.
Seven songs that don't complain, but simply leave the world behind: The driving opener Haukøye immediately sets the tone, before Trollmannens Hytte provides some breathing room with its relaxed flow and Satan i Blodet picks up the energy again. The centerpiece, the title track Weltschmerz Baby, unfolds as a real banger: a simmering rhythm that draws from the energy of the previous tracks. The dreamy Coyoteman, which seamlessly transitions into the droning Moloch vs. Gud and the closer Mir (Drogarna Börjar Värka), concludes the album with 70s space-bounce and a long fadeout as a departure.
Fuzzy guitars, powerful bass, vintage keyboards and haunting vocals are the Seid recipe that has worked for 25 years and sounds as fresh as ever here.
