Five tracks, eighty minutes and a continuous pull into the dark: The Doomsday Machine is still considered by many fans to be Electric Moon's darkest and doomiest album. Originally released in 2011 by Nasoni Records, Sulatron Records is bringing the band's third studio album back into its program in 2016 as a CD re-release.
For the first time, Komet Lulu also takes over the lyrics and vocals. Written by herself, embedded in dense, fuzz-drenched soundscapes of guitar, bass and synthesizer. The opener Doomsday Machine sets a menacing, almost ritualistic tone with Alex on drums, before Pablo Carneval takes over on Kleiner Knaller, Spaceman, Stardust Service and Feigenmonolog, driving the album into ever new, dark sound spaces.
The CD is accompanied by impressive charcoal drawings by the artist Ulla Papel (Ulrich Mahn), which were intended as a visual equivalent to the music. The Doomsday Machine remains one of the most intense and consistent albums in Electric Moon's œuvre.
