Loop Station Drones

Three evenings, seven tracks, 78 minutes. Loop Station Drones is Sula Bassana's most spontaneous album in years, created in spring 2021, shortly after CV Sessions was finished, and without a grand concept behind it: two loop stations, two amplifiers, a drum machine, an East German organ (Weltmeister TO 200/5), a vintage synthesizer (Roland SH-5) and a modern one (Roland SE-02). Press record, start playing, minimal editing, hardly any overdubs.

Roadburn Haze was created exclusively for the Roadburn Festival in April 2021 and is a relaxed, fuzz-laden rollercoaster ride between early Pink Floyd, Hawkwind and Electric Moon. Rolling In Outer Space, with its old Weltmeister organ and a NASA sample, sounds like a first-rate Sci-Fi B-movie soundtrack. The Caravan of the Immortals and Wastelandgarden were created live for Radio KFJC and have that special energy of a single, long breath. At almost 18 minutes, Dopeshuttle is the most extensive track and most strongly resembles a Silver Machine overdose. Stargate and the quiet, relaxed One Way round off the album with ambient texture and electric piano.
