Full Metal Jacket

In early March 2022, in the gloomy, angry mood that the new war in Europe brought, Dave Schmidt (bass, synth, organ), Pablo Carneval (drums) and new guitarist Manuel Wohlrab recorded the basic tracks for Full Mental Jacket. The album is the hardest and most direct that Zone Six have ever made.

Three extended jams between seven and nineteen minutes: Slingshot opens with soprano saxophone (Gottfried Klier) and ghost guitars (Rainer Neeff) and bridges the gap between jazzy groove and heavy, fuzzed-out riffs. The title track, Full Mental Jacket, is the most galloping and fuzziest track: a force that leaves no room for pause. Chrono Trigger concludes the album as the most extended piece, evolving from a meditative intro into a cosmic riff stream.

Manuel Wohlrab comes from a metal and doom background, and his edgy, direct guitar sound is the clearest break from anything Zone Six has done before. Mastered by Eroc, cover by Brett Savage.
