Psychedelic Rock · Space Rock · Krautrock
Cobra Family Picnic hail from Tucson, Arizona, a desert city that has burned its own heat and dust into every note of this band. Founded by bassist Boyd Peterson and keyboardist Lesli Wood, they evolved into a solid five-piece that had already shared the stage with Moon Duo, White Manna, The Myrrors and Mugstar in the years leading up to their debut album.
Their sound is a complete encyclopedia of underground psychedelia compressed into a small space. You can hear the trance-inducing keyboards of Suicide, the post-Velvets go-go freakout of Les Rallizes Dénudés, the pulsing, locked-in grooves of Neu! and the smoky snake-song of the early Doors. When genuine NASA radio transmissions are faded in between the three Interplanetary Travel interludes and Randall Dempsey’s reverb-drenched vocals emerge from the darkness, it feels like being teleported directly into space. Magnetic Anomaly was released in 2017 as a co-production between the labels Cardinal Fuzz, Sky Lantern Records and Sulatron Records. We released the CD edition for the European market.
Music for hot nights, vast desert landscapes and anyone who like psych rock dusty and sweaty.
